          A Prayer IN School

The first day of school a pre-schooler folded her hands and bowed her head over her cookie and carton of milk and said, "Dear God, thank you for this cookie and milk, I love you, amen". The teacher informed the pre-schooler, "We do not do that in school". The teacher received a dark look. She grew concerned. And called the parent. "Today your daughter gave me a very dark look."

Why did she give you a dark look?

I am very concerned; I have never seen such a look of hatred.

You don't need to explain the look I have seen it. Why did she give you the look?

She has done this before? Aren’t you concerned?

Yes, but when I get that look I know something is troubling her and have learned that if I tell her that I love her, but am sorry she can't always have her way, we work it out, then the look goes away.

Well, she should not be going around looking at people like that.

Why did she give you that look?

Because I told her we do not pray over cookies at school.

Silence, then, If a child can't pray in school what do you expect?

I have always had a deep respect for our country, perhaps because I was raised to understand how it was founded. But today our children haven't a clue as to why they are even here. Except family values, such a hollow sounding concept, void of love and kindness, in a world without values.

It is a lie that prayer has been taken out of school. This is the only prayer taken out of school.

"Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our country."

Such a simple prayer, almost as simple as cookies and milk.

But oh, what meaning! First our children went downhill, then the family fell apart, our teachers lost respect, and now our country is in a downward spiral.

The words "Separation of church and state" cannot be found in our constitution. Try doing a word search. Type in the word "church". You won't find it in THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, but you will find it in the Former Russian Constitution. Article 52 [Religion] (2) In the USSR, the church was separated from the state, and the school from the church. But they even changed that and wrote a new one!

            Scary huh.........

(If you feel so inclined, please pass this on.)
